Christmas is about a lot of things, but it definitely wouldn’t be Christmas without Christmas music. Here’s a list of songs that give me that warm, funny feeling and that are a must during this time of the year.
So here it is, in no particular order, the Jukepop Christmas Playlist Stravaganza.
1. 2 Become 1
Not a Christmas song per se – far from it- but it was the first of three consecutive Christmas number 1s the Spice Girls would achieve. 2 Become 1 takes me back to the little kid I was, who couldn’t sleep the night of the 24th, and woke up REALLY early on the 25th to open her presents.
2. Last Christmas
Some songs are simply timeless and perfect, and this one is not only that. It’s also romantic and mushy and catchy and amazing.
3. Jingle Bell Rock
It’s not Christmas in pop culture without quoting this infamous Mean Girls sequence.
4. Christmas Wrapping
A completely ridiculous, yet fun song that the Spice Girls released as a bside for their 3rd Christmas number 1, Goodbye.
5. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day
Girls Aloud released a Christmas album. It this wasn’t amazing enough, they performed some of the songs on TV wearing those dresses that I’m sure they wish never wore.
6. Santa Baby
No version of Santa Baby will ever compare to Kylie’s version and the pure sensualness she oozes through her voice.
7. All I Want For Christmas Is You
Possibly the greatest Christmas song ever.
8. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Also a song that reminds me of my childhood and putting up the tree.
9. Let It Snow
Another timeless classic that will never not be great.
10. I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus
In 2011 we had to say goodbye to Amy, but her voice is the testament of her greatness. Her live version of this song is a perfect example.
